Writer Sujatha - The Legend

Sujatha is undoubtedly a legend. His literary works have inspired a lot of people to read and write. I am one among them. He has a lot of novels, short stories and even films to his credit.

I came to know about this writer during my school days when i was watching a TV serial which was based on his novel. Those days the concept of serials/soaps were totally different from the ones we see these days. I heard that this writer thinks different and writes different. So I was very eager to read his novels. I searched for his books in my school library but could not find anything other than Nancy Drew, Treasure Island, Enchanted Wood, Enid Blyton...which were the ones I had already eaten. My interest for his writing grew as I grew up (without having read even a single work of his). Finally when I was in college I bought my first book of Sujatha - "Pirivom Santhipom". Before reading it I heard that it had created waves among the youth when it was coming as a story in Ananda Vikatan. I read the whole book in a single night. Such a beautiful romantic story!! I never knew romantic writing was his cup of tea. Very true and realistic story. Madhu and Raghu were the main characters of the story. I could not stop thinking about the poor protagonist Raghu in the first part of the novel for atleast 1 week. Then the very next day I went to get the second part but it was not available. After a long struggle I got hold of the book a week later. After many twists and turns the author kills Madhu.
Since Pirivom Santhipom I had been reading all his novels. Whether it is Science fiction or Love or even Comedy he is the best I would say. Especially his short stories are eye openers. "Arisi" is a very short story with a touching end that makes you think of our society. He is an intellectual writer in the sense he does not narrate things. Instead he allows the audience to think from his brief writing. He makes you think smarter. If you get a chance(I would rather suggest, create one:)), try his short stories to begin with. They will bring a change in you!!!!!!!!
